In which we have a domestic and get domestic...

The Mr. and I had a fight this morning.  Nothing serious just a little marital spat.  You know the kind that results in you trying to out-martyr each other for the rest of the day, each trying to prove that really you are the one who works the hardest in the relationship? (everyone does this right?  Or is it just us, with our uber competitive personalities!?)  Of course this was bad because really I just wanted to sit down and waste some time on pinterest with a cup of coffee, not have a chore marathon, but at the same time it was kind of awesome because I finally got around to fishing out all those tiny bits of lego from between the couch cushions and wiping the crumbs up from that bemuda triangle space behind the toaster.  And for his part the Mr. finally put together our island bench!!  …Not to be outdone I then cleaned out the fridge, dug a compost hole and baked chocolate cookies.

If we argued more often I'm pretty sure our house would start looking like something out of a Martha Stewart magazine… although maybe that's why Martha ended up divorced?

I've got a proper house update planned for tomorrow...

In which our hamper is used for everything but laundry...

Few words tonight - the Mr. is away on business again this week and I have to try and reign my frat house into some semblance of order while the devils angels are sleeping.

Happy Australia Day!

We celebrated by the book - ate sausages, party pies and pavlova and relaxed at the beach.  What can I say?  Australia Day really is a classy holiday.

Thanks for all your encouraging comments after my dummy spit… I hope all your toilets and kitchen sponges are clean and orderly and we can all move forward from here.

I'm tired...

I just have to say my least favourite chore is cleaning out the oven. I mean it really is a thankless task. I know it has to be done but I am the only person who ever opens the oven so after I have spent an hour of back breaking scrubbing no one is going to give a brass razoo. Sure other chores are tiresome but they are much more visible. People are going to notice when the bathroom is sparkling clean and when their clothes are freshly laundered and folded away. But no one pops around for a cup of tea and peeks their head into the oven to remark on how pristine (or otherwise) it is (unless perchance you are inviting Gordon Ramsay over for scones). It really is the proverbial tree falling in the forest with no one to hear it. So I'm just going to take this opportunity to shout it out to you all… 'TODAY I CLEANED THE OVEN'. And in case you were wondering I would like a medal and a mars bar.

I know today was supposed to be nearly wordless Tuesday but I never really was much good at keeping quiet.
